JOEBOTZ: THE THOUGHT

Project: JOEBOTZ

program .03.....THE WORD

This is the third design in a series of conceptual pieces I am doing titled JOEBOTZ. Based upon the aspect of the mind that is always exploring the universe outside oneself from within. Also, the part that realized the world was broken and it could not be fixed without us...now he searches for the solution.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Nanorobotic constructs each representing an aspect of the enlightened human mind. Designed to assist the artist in bringing about the positive reconstruction of culture through creativity. They follow only the orders of their universally designated creator. Also, they each have their own cool little hat.

BCC 2010 COMMISSIONS: JOKER

My sister saw this and said "Well, you've loved drawing the Joker since you were like 8."

True Dat Sis, True Dat...

BCC 2010 COMISSIONS: THE IRON FIST

I have decided that I could draw Iron Fist every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it......that is all

BCC 2010 COMMISSIONS: Bomb Defusing Robot

Did this for a nice young lady named Adrian.

Which of course means that I screamed yo Adrian the entire time I drew this.

Anyway, she wanted a bomb defusing robot....cold, emotionless.

I think this is based on her boyfriend.

It's always fun to get these odd off the wall ones.

BCC 2010 COMISSIONS: DEADPOOL DOS

The second Deadpool from BCC.

For the Father of the Kid that got the first one.

I think I'm clever......isn't that just arrogant of me.

BCC 2010 COMISSIONS: DEADPOOL

The first commission I did in Baltimore this year.

This is from a set of Father & Son Deadpool commissions I got to do. Which was feakin' sweet by the way.

After this kid got this he took it to his Dad and dad came back to get one done.

Thanks Kid....

Marvel Announces ASTONISHING THOR

Sooooo, this is gonna be epic.

Marvel's new Astonishing Line is I think a genius move. It's an opportunity for them to do what makes Marvel great. To make truly great comics. Epic stories by the worlds greatest writers drawn by the most brilliant artists of our time.

I'm not exceedingly versed in Rob Rodi's work but Loki with Esad Ribic was awesome so I'm sure he'll handle The God of Thunder well. As you can see Esad is doing the cover's for Astonishing Thor......a resounding Yay.

The art on this project is sure to melt your face off with Drawesomeness. Mike Choi is a young version of some future hero of the comic art world. I'm sure 50 years from now our kids will all be in line at the one con a year he goes to getting X-Force signed and bowing down in awe. Him drawing Thor is going to be a magical thing to see. I've seen his Thor before as well as aspect's of the Asgaurdian world in X-Force, he and colorist Sonia Oback handled it with a grace and power that made what could have been simple side story for character resolution into a shakespearian epic that brought the book a weight I think it may have lacked from lesser creators.

Astonishing Spider-man & Wolverine has reached it's second issue and I'm more than happy with that product. And who can forget Whedon & Cassaday's X-Men. All evidence leads me to believe this will be one of the greatest comics ever made, aside from an mind exploding Thor story.

Point being, buy this, read it and enjoy some Mighty Thor goodness in it's most pure form.

Peace and may you all see Valhalla

FREAKANGELS TERRITORY

This may be the most work I've put into a colored piece yet.

Learned alot doing this.

KK from Freakangels.

Mr. Warren Ellis created this brilliant web comic I was fortunate enough to come across a while back. If you have not read it you should. His brain creates awesomeness. It's drawn by Paul Duffield, his brain creates awesomeness as well.

Anyway here be my tribute to this epic story!!!

CAPTAIN AMERICA MOVIE CONCEPT ART

Here he is folks, Captain America!!!

Original Concept art from Captain America: The First Avenger.

Some had their doubt's about Chris Evans playing cap. I always felt good about it. These pics pretty much destroy any remaining doubts I may have had.

With Joe Johnston directing things are on track for Marvel to show the world why Steve Rogers is such a beloved character among comic fans.

The Walking Dead

The first images from The Walking Dead TV Series!!!!! Robert Kirkman's brilliant comic is coming to life on AMC and I am more than excited. This will be well beyond awesome.

For now though the first of 3 Character concepts I'm working on.

Think this is nuts wait until you see the other two guys.

The system fails again

"Experience hath shown, that even under the best forms (of government) those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."

Seems Sketchy

Seems Sketchy is a series of sketches I will do my best to keep up with daily.
Random stuff I or other people come up with which I will use to exercise my mutant ability. Welcome to my danger room and all that.
Each sketch will be accompanied by a quote.
Quick sketch of Professor X I did at Starbucks while I had lunch today.

TEKKONKINKREET

Be happy Be Happy.

I try to tell myself this alot.

Often while drawing I find myself in need of some creative fuel. The creation
machines in my head require it in order to function for long periods of time.
Those are an entirely different conversation though.

Anyway I popped open me iTunes, clicked over on Movies and after spending way
too long staring at the categories thought to myself "OH I KNOW WHAT TO WATCH.
IIIIIIT'S ANIME TIME!!!" It was loud in my head like that too. That's what the
whole all caps thing meant.

In case yuh.....didn't..............get.....that.....sooooo anywaaaay.

I find myself watch the trailer for TEKKONKINKREET.

Which grabs me subtly by the hand and leads me into the most beautiful garden
of sweet delicious Anime apple trees I have had the pleasure of walking through
in years.

I won't spill any details for fear of ruining you Journey into the would of
Black & White. Great characters. GREAT Guuuuhhreat characters.

It's nice to know art like this is being made.

I think about the crazy future human psyciarcheologists that will crack open
some ancient art laboratory 10,000 years from now. They'll stumble in and trip
over my decaying yet still extremely attractive, which I'm sure one of them
will mention, remains before reaching my desk, popping up my iTunes and watching
this. That thought makes me happy. I'm glad this film will be there to speak for us.

Be happy. Be happy. That is the message of this Masterpiece.

Listen.

Peace

TRANSMETROPOLITAN

"There's one hole in every revolution, large or small. And it's one word long PEOPLE. No matter how big the idea they all stand under, people are small and weak and cheap and frightened. It's people that kill every revolution."
~ Spider Jerusalem

If you have not read Transmetropoiltan you need to.

Warren Ellis is a freaking Mad Genius for this book.

Spider Jerusalem is the perfect analog for the little voice in all our heads that screams at the ridiculous stupidity of our monstrous ways.

This is Spider. Rather than represent his suddenly thinking of the answer with a light bulb like is so common. I chose a mushroom cloud.

Click Here to get the book.

Also I have a dozen or so prints or this available.

Zeke the Ninja

He doesn't have a name yet but for the sake of this post I shall call him Zeke.

Zeke the Ninja.

I came up with this design while working on my website (which should be live in the next 2 weeks or so by the way). I wanted to come up with some characters based on odd combinations multiple weapons. No guns though.

I thought, swords and grenandes could make for an interesting fighting style.

Zeke has a myriad of grenades in the crazy back pack of his, and he's ill with those two crazy swords.

Not sure what I'll end up doing with the character design. I'm sure he'll end up in one of my Graphic Novels in some form.

I know this will become a T-Shirt at some point too.

I'll post him colored soon. I'm having fun with those light trails.

Peace;

Joe Kertesz

A world of Pure Imagination

Welcome to the musings of some goofball with a pencil.

I'm quite clever aren't I.

Enjoy the ride.
